Around the time I started this project, I had fallen into a creative slump and took to the internet for visual inspiration. I found myself saving a lot of still images from the movie, Alice in Wonderland. I decided I wanted to do a photoshoot inspired by the nonsensical and fun world that is, Wonderland. I asked my girlfriends if I could borrow their kids to help me bring to life my creative whimsy and they obliged (the kids were excited to participate too). The photoshoot went well. I took a ton of photos that have yet to be transformed in Photoshop, but I will add them to this collection as I complete each one. I do all of this in my own time in-between work and client projects but I have committed myself to create at least one composite photo each month this year. I had this amazing dream the other night where I moved to a small community of floating cottages, much like the Giethoorn village, in the Netherlands. My cousin showed up at my doorstep bearing the gift of a blue whale she lassoed using a golden cord. She was wearing overalls and a white shirt. It was the evening time and the stars were prominent with their light reflecting off the waters surface along with the warm glow spilling from the cottage windows. The atmosphere was serene and peaceful, we never spoke a word. She handed me the golden cord for me to release the whale into the open waters where he began to happily burst from the water and sink back down. The water remained undisturbed but the whale's enchanting songs hung over us in the stillness of the night. I try and re-create my memorable dreams in Photoshop so I don't forget them. This time, I made use of the OpenAI software, DALL-E. It took many renditions working with the AI and then I took it into Photoshop afterwards where I added the golden glitter to the lasso and some other light edits. I really love this image. It reminded me a bit of a dream I had not too long ago where I saw an artist in their workshop. :) My dream had similar doors with glass, and the colors in this photo are very close to the scene from my dream as well. I found the photographer's profile on Instagram and saw in their comments that this type of establishment in Japan is known as an izakaya. An izakaya (居酒屋) (Japanese: [izakaja]) is a type of informal Japanese bar that serves alcoholic drinks and snacks. A friend shared a video with me, art by Eyvind Earle. I felt inspired to try some of his techniques, but with a twist! I did it in VR (virtual reality) through a program called, Kingspray Graffiti. My version is a very loose interpretation/application of Eyvind's technique but I like the finished product. If you have the opportunity to create VR art, I recommend it! It's a completely different experience. I've been frustrated with some of the other VR art programs because they were much more complicated to use. This program is very easy to use and it really feels like you're holding the spray can and painting with it. Great way to lose yourself for a bit and relieve some stress. A Real Live Unicorn! A friend of mine has a son who absolutely loves unicorns. His birthday was coming up, and his mom, who is seriously one of the most amazing people and moms I know, planned this entire day in honor of her son’s birthday. From Unicorn pizza, to a Harry Potter-themed cafe, they had the entire day mapped out with a bunch of stops to various places that catered to all of her son's favorite things and passions.
